Fit guide

Use a flexible measuring tape made for tailoring. It is essential to getting an accurate measurement.

Measure yourself in form fitting clothing or with no clothing on. Be mindful that garment measurements should have some extra room and not be an exact tight fit to your body (especially for non-stretch items that are tailored fit). Keeping one finger inside of the measuring tape helps add a little room.

Use garments you already have that fit you well for measurement references. Example: bust measurement on a blouse you love or the waist, rise and hip measurement of your favourite pair of pants. Or a dress to understand the length and where the hem will hit. Measure the garment laying flat then double the measurement for the circumference of your body for bust, waist and hip measurements.

Tops

Bust
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.

Waist
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a little bit loose. For tops that aren’t supposed to be totally form fitting - this measurement doesn’t matter so much. Most tops will be the same waist and hip measurement as the pit-to-pit measurement.

Top shoulder to hem
This measurement is useful to understand how long a shirt will be on your body. Measure from the very top shoulder near the neck for most accurate measurement.

Shoulder
This measurement is taken from the back middle arm hole to other middle armhole. This gives you an idea of how much room your shoulders will have inside the garment.

Pants

Rise
Rise measurement helps you understand how high the pants will sit on your body. Using a pair of pants you already have for reference, measure from the intersecting crotch seam to the top of the waistband.

Waist
Measure around your natural waistline or along the rise measurement line, keeping the tape a little bit loose by placing one finger under the measuring tape for some slack. When measuring a pair of pants you already own, the waistband should be pulled straight if it naturally curves. Edge to edge measurement is important for an accurate measurement.

Hips
Measure around the widest part of your hips/butt. When measuring pants for reference the true hip point should be somewhere below the base of the zipper/widest part of hip.

Inseam
Using a pair of pants that fit well, measure from the intersecting crotch seam to the bottom of the hem on the inside seam.

Hem opening
This measurement is for the leg opening at the ankle so you have an idea of how wide or slim the pants are.

Hats

Measure around the entire head, 1” above eyebrows, above the ears where glasses would sit and below the fuller part of the back of the head.
